Oct. 16, 2014 CALGARY, Alberta - Former Providence College women's ice hockey standout Genevieve Lacasse '12 was named to Team Canada's 23-player roster for the Four Nations Cup, as it was announced by the team today (Oct. 16). The Four Nations Cup will occur Nov. 4-8 at the Interior Savings Centre in Kamloops, B.C.

Lacasse is one of three goaltenders on the team. She was selected after participating in the Canada's National Women's Team Fall Festival on Sept. 22-28. Team Canada will compete against Finland, Sweden and the United States in the 19th annual tournament. The Four Nations Cup also will serve as an evaluation method for Canada's National Team Head Coach Doug Derraugh and his coaching staff for the 2015 IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship in Malmö, Sweden, and for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang, South Korea.

"I feel honored to have been selected to this year's Four Nations Team for Canada," said Lacasse. "I am looking forward to competing and getting back on the ice with my teammates."

Last winter, Lacasse earned a gold medal with Team Canada in the Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia. Lacasse was the eighth Friar to win a gold medal.

At Providence, Lacasse broke several records and was the captain during her senior season. The four-year starter holds records for the most career victories (64), career games played (127), career saves (3,482) and career shutouts (20). She also set Hockey East records for saves in a single tournament (127) and career tournament saves (276).
