Friar Lacrosse Announces Fall Schedule

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College lacrosse Head Coach Chris Burdick has announced his team's fall schedule. In addition to the squad's annual showdown with an alumni team on Saturday, September 24, the Friars will have showdowns with Michigan, Hartford and Vermont.

The alumni game, featuring a team of former Friars against the 2012 squad, will take place at Lennon Family Field on the Providence College campus on Saturday, September 24. Faceoff is set for 6:00 p.m.

Providence will then travel to Ann Arbor, Mich., to face Michigan on Sunday, October 2. The Wolverines, who make the move to NCAA Division I in 2012 as a member of the ECAC, have won three MCLA national championships, as well as the last five-consecutive Central Collegiate Lacrosse Association titles. The contest with the Wolverines gets underway at 1:30 p.m.

The Friars will conclude the fall season with a trip to Braintree, Mass., to participate in the Catamount Classic. PC will play a pair of games on Sunday, October 9. First will be a showdown with Hartford at 1:30 p.m., followed by a contest against Vermont at 3:30 p.m. The games will be played at Thayer Academy.

Burdick will be in his 14th season as head coach in 2012. The Friars return 36 of 41 players from a season ago, including Jake Nolan (Westport, Conn.), who led the team in points and goals in 2011. They also return Andrew Barton (Timonium, Md.), who led the squad in assists.
