SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The Providence College lacrosse team dropped a non-conference game at Bryant, 13-6, on Tuesday, March 22, at the Bryant Turf Field. The Friars fell to 2-4 on the season, while the Bulldogs improved to 3-4.

Junior Jake Nolan (Westport, Conn.) notched a goal and three assists. The Friars also got a pair of goals from sophomore Josh Torres (Andover, Mass.) and single goals from senior Steve Lydon (Braintree, Mass.), freshman Bryan Annecchino (Darien, Conn.) and junior Andrew Bromley (Surrey, British Columia).

Bryant was led by a hat trick from Dan Sipperly. Evan Roberts and Travis Harrington each added a pair of goals. Roberts added a pair of assists, as did Peter McMahon.

Junior goalie Christian Dzwilewski (Huntington, N.Y.) took the loss, dropping his record to 2-4 on the season. Dzwilewski made 11 saves while giving up 11 goals in 49:13. Jameson Love took the win for Bryant, making three saves while allowing six goals while playing all 60 minutes.

The Friars fell down 3-0 early. Ben Sternberg got Bryant on the board just 13 seconds into the game. The Bulldogs added two more goals, at 13:02 and 12:52, to build the lead to 3-0. The score remained at 3-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Bryant again scored on the opening faceoff of the second quarter, although a little more deliberately, as Sipperly extended the lead to 4-0 just 1:06 into the second period. After Bryant built the lead to 6-0, the Friars got on the board with 3:42 left in the half when Lydon found the back of the cage on a pass from behind the net from Nolan. The Bulldogs would push the lead to 8-1 before the break.

Bryant scored the first goal of the second half, pushing the lead to 9-1. The game remained scoreless until there were four seconds left in the third quarter when Nolan found Torres in front and Torres found the back of the cage to make it 9-2.

The Friars got the first goal of the fourth quarter when Nolan dished it to Annecchino who beat Love inside the right post to make it 9-3. After another pair of Bryant goals, Nolan did it himself, spinning in front and beating Love to make it 11-4. After another Bulldog goal, Torres notched his second goal of the game, unassisted with 2:10 left. The Bulldogs added one more goal with 1:34 remaining before Bromley scored on a pass from junior Matt DiFrancesco (Slingerlands, N.Y.) to provide the final margin of 13-6.

The broadcast of the game can be seen on Cox Sports on Thursday, March 24, and Saturday, March 26. Both broadcasts will begin at 7:00 p.m.

The Friars return to action this Saturday, March 26, when they host Siena. Faceoff is set for 2:00 p.m. at the Friar Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex.
