PROVIDENCE, R.I. - No. 10 Providence College women's ice hockey freshman Rebecca Morse (Westfield, N.J.) has been named Hockey East's Pro Ambition's Rookie of the Week for games played the weekend of February 26.
It is the first time she has been honored with a conference accolade.
Morse scored the go-ahead goal in the Friar's 5-2 victory over Maine in the conference quarterfinal on Saturday. Her third period strike from the left of the slot broke a 1-1 tie and ignited Providence's four-goal third. She finished the game with a plus-minus rating of plus 2.
The award caps off a tremendous month for the freshman. She has contributed five points in the last six games while furnishing a plus/minus rating of plus 6 over that span.
Morse and the Friars will face Boston College on Saturday, March 5 in the Hockey East Semifinals. Face-off at Walter Brown Arena, the host site for the semifinals and finals, is scheduled for 3 p.m.
Tickets for the semifinals and Championship are $5 for adults, $3 for senior citizens, children, and students. There is a $2 group rate for parties of 10 or more. Students with a valid identification from any WHEA school get in free. To purchase group tickets call 617-358-7016. Tickets can be purchased in person at Agganis Arena, at Walter Brown Arena on game day, and through www.Ticketmaster.com, Ticketmaster outlets and via phone at 800-745-3000.
