CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The Providence College men's lacrosse team fell to No. 6 North Carolina, 14-7, on March 11 in Chapel Hill, N.C. The Friars drop to 0-4 on the year, while the Tar Heels improve to 7-1 overall.

The game was knotted, 2-2, at the conclusion of the first quarter. UNC's Jimmy Dunster opened the scoring in the second quarter at the 14:10 mark to give the Tar Heels a 3-2 advantage.

Providence responded with three-straight goals to take a 5-3 lead with 4:38 remaining in the first half. Freshman Evan Olsen (Tampa, Fla.) started the rally with his second goal of the game at the 12:50 mark off a feed from senior Bobby Labadini (Westford, Mass.). Sophomore Mike Feldberg (Voorhees, N.J.) netted the Friars' go-ahead goal with 7:16 on the clock, assisted by junior Colin Tigh (Garden City, N.Y.), to make the score 4-3. Tigh broke through for a goal of his own at the 4:38 mark off a feed from Labadini.

UNC closed the half with three-straight goals to take a 6-5 lead at the break and outscored the Friars 8-2 in the second half to earn the decisive victory (14-7).

The Tar Heels outshot the Friars, 48-31, and held a 53-29 advantage in groundballs. Additionally, UNC won 20-of-24 face off opportunities.

Providence goalkeeper Robert Bryan (Apex, N.C.) allowed 11 goals and registered 12 saves in 42:12 minutes of action. Tim Finnegan (Lowell, Mass.) played 17:48 minutes and allowed three goals was making three saves. Grant Zimmerman earned the victory in the cage for UNC with 10 saves.

Providence opens Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) action against VMI on March 14 in Lexington, Va. Opening face-off is set for Noon.
