Providence College Women's Ice Hockey Player Jackie Duncan Named HOCKEY EAST Rookie of the Week

On Monday, January 22, it was announced that freshman forward Jackie Duncan (Hudson, Que.) was named the Misson Hockey Rookie of the Week for the HOCKEY EASTAssociation. Duncan helped the Friars earn two victories, including a 5-0 win over Northeastern University, on Saturday, January 20 in Boston, Mass. and a 3-1 overtime win against the University of Maine on Sunday, January 21 at Schneider Arena in Providence, R.I. Against Northeastern, Duncan scored her first career goal for the Friars. The following day, Duncan scored her second goal in as many days, as she got the Friars on the board at 13:05 of the first period.
The Friars return to action next weekend with a home-and-home series against the University of New Hampshire Wildcats. Saturday's game on January 27 will be a home game at Schneider Arena for the Friars, while Sunday's contest will be held at the Whittemore Center in Durham, N.H. Both games are scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start. Saturday's game in Providence will be part of the HOCKEY EAST's "Skating Strides Against Breast Cancer" and all proceeds will benefit cancer research and treatment programs.
