BALTIMORE, MD. - Providence College Head Men's Lacrosse Coach Chris Burdick and Stanford University Women's Lacrosse Coach Michele Uhlfelder were selected at US Lacrosse Men's and Women's Coaches of the Week, for the week ending April 30. Both coaches will be recognized for this honor on an upcoming CSTV lacrosse broadcast.
Burdick led the Providence men's lacrosse program to a share of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Regular-Season title with two victories last week over Marist (9-6) and Mount St. Mary's (8-3). It marks the Friars' third regular-season title overall and the second-straight season in which the Friars have claimed the No. 1 seed. The Friars enter the MAAC Tournament with an 8-6 overall record and will face No. 4 seed Marist in the semifinals on Friday, May 5 in Buffalo, N.Y.
Uhlfelder led the No. 19 Stanford women to a pair of road victories, capped with a 5-4 upset of No. 10 Cornell on Sunday. The Cardinal also posted a 10-7 win over Connecticut on Friday. Stanford improved to 10-5 overall with the two wins and carries a five-game winning streak into Saturday's semifinal round game (opponent TBD) of the MPSF Tournament in Eugene, Oregon.
US Lacrosse and CSTV are in the third year of a partnership to help bring college lacrosse to fans around the nation. CSTV has a 26-game schedule of men's and women's lacrosse this season, including five NCAA championship games as well as the championship games from the 2006 US Lacrosse Intercollegiate Associates National Championships in Dallas, Texas.
