PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's lacrosse program will hold its annual Alumni Game at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 1. The game will be played on Glay Field on the campus of Providence College in Providence, R.I. The teams will be divided by graduation year and odd graduation years will play against even graduation years.
The alumni game precedes the Friars regular-season finale against Manhattan which is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. on Glay Field. Providence has claimed a spot in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship Tournament for the fourth-straight season under sixth-year Head Coach Chris Burdick. Marist College has claimed the regular-season MAAC title and Canisius has claimed the No. 2 seed in the tournament. Providence and Manhattan are the remaining two teams who have clinched a spot in the four-team tournament. A Friar victory over the Jaspers on Saturday would give Providence the No. 3 seed in the tournament and Manhattan would claim the No. 4 seed.
The MAAC Championship Tournament is slated to begin on Friday, May 7 at Canisius College in Buffalo, N.Y. The No. 1 seed will play the No. 4 seed in a semifinal match-up and the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds will play in the other semifinal game. The two semifinal winners will advance to the championship game on Sunday, May 9 to play for the MAAC Tournament title. The winner of the MAAC Championship Tournament will receive the league's automatic bid to the 2004 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship Tournament.
