Providence College Friars (6-6, 5-2 MAAC): The Providence College men's lacrosse team is scheduled to host crosstown rival Brown on Tuesday, April 27 at 4:00 p.m. in Providence, R.I. Providence is coming off an important conference victory on Saturday, April 24 as they downed VMI, 8-4. The Friars played a strong game as they controlled the action for much of the day. Providence was led offensively by junior Dan Giuntini (Floral Park, N.Y.) with two goals and an assist, while fellow junior Andrew McMinn (Pittsburgh, Pa.) started in net for Providence and made 10 saves as his record improved to 5-4 (4-1 MAAC).
Giuntini's 25 points (21 goals, four assists) leads the Friars through 12 games. With his two goals on Saturday Giuntini moved into a tie for 15th on the all-time goals scored list at Providence with 56 career tallies. Freshman Brendan Ryan (Chatham, N.J.) is second on the team with 19 points (five goals and 14 assists), while junior Jonathan Hollister (Longmeadow, Mass.) is third with 16 points (nine goals, seven assists). McMinn has been the teams' primary goaltender this season, playing 494:51 minutes in the cage. McMinn has a 7.27 goals against average and a .577 save percentage.
Junior Mark Rotella (Smithtown, N.Y.) has taken the majority of the face-offs this season and currently has a .571 face-off percentage (80-140). Senior defenseman Brian O'Rorke (Montclair, N.J.) leads the team with 45 groundballs.
The Friars are winless in the all-time series with the Bears (0-12) and have never scored more than eight goals in a game. Last season Brown defeated Providence, 11-5. Tom Kelly (Henniker, N.H.) recorded his second career multiple-goal game in the loss.
# 16 Brown University Bears (8-3, 2-2 IVY): Brown enters Tuesday's match up against Providence with an 8-3 overall record and a 2-2 mark in Ivy League play. The 16th-ranked Bears are coming off a 9-6 victory over No. 20 Dartmouth on April 24 in which they had three players net two goals apiece. Brown is led in scoring this season by Chazz Woodson with 25 goals and 16 assists for 41 points. Kyle Wailes is second with 24 points on four goals and 20 assists, while Chris Mucciolo is third with 18 goals and four assists. Woodson leads the team in goals (25), while Wailes leads the team in assists (20). Goalkeeper Mike Levin has played the majority of minutes for the Bears posting a 7-2 overall record with a .615 save percentage and a 7.72 goals against average.
