Men's Lacrosse Ranked Ninth In NEILA Division I Rankings

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's lacrosse team is ranked ninth (eight points) in the latest New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) Division I Rankings as of Tuesday, April 8, 2002. The poll can be found on the Wesleyan University Athletic website (men's lacrosse page) at http://www.wesleyan.edu/athletics/mlacrosse/mlacrosse.html.

The University of Massachusetts (8-1) leads the poll for the sixth-consecutive week with 49 points and four first-place votes. Yale (6-2) is second with 45 points and one first-place vote, followed by Dartmouth (7-1) and Fairfield (5-3) who are in a tie for third place with 38 points each. UMass and Fairfield each qualified for the NCAA Tournament in 2002.

Providence currently holds a 3-5 overall record and a 3-0 mark in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). The Friars remain as the only unbeaten team in league play. The Friars will return to action on Wednesday, April 9 against Holy Cross at 7:00 p.m. in Worcester, Mass. PC will face Marist in MAAC action on Saturday, April 12 at 7:00 p.m. in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
