The inaugural Women's HOCKEY EAST All-Tournament Team was announced at the conclusion of the championship game on Sunday, March 16 in which Providence defeated New Hampshire, 1-0.
The Friars earned three spots on the All-Tournament team with two forwards and a defenseman being honored. The forwards named to the team were sophomores Hilary Greaves (Cranston, R.I.) and Rush Zimmerman (Grosse Pointe, Mich.). Greaves scored a total of three goals during the Tournament, including the game-winner in Sunday's, 1-0, victory over New Hampshire. Zimmerman tallied the game-winner and added an assist in Saturday's, 7-0, victory over Connecticut. The final All-Tournament Team member from Providence was junior defenseman Kelli Halcisak (Grosse Ile, Mich.), who also took home the Tournament's Most Valuable Player award. Halcisak assisted on six of the Friars' eight goals during the Tournament and played strong defensively finishing a combined plus six in plus/minus statistics. The final three spots on the All-Tournament Team went to New Hampshire players, forward Stephanie Jones, defenseman Allison Edgar, and goaltender Jen Huggon.
With their victory on Sunday the Friars now have the distiction of winning both the Women's and Men's inaugural HOCKEY EAST Tournaments.
