Jana Bugden Named HOCKEY EAST Goaltender of the Month

Providence College freshman goaltender Jana Bugden (Corner Brook, Newfoundland) was named Women's HOCKEY EAST Goaltender of the Month for December on Thursday, January 2, 2003.

Bugden earned the honor for her strong play in 6-2 victory over Boston College on December 3, 2002 and a 2-1 overtime loss to top-ranked Harvard on December 8, 2002. In the game versus the No. 1 Crimson, Bugden made 30 saves and came up 16 seconds short as the Friars were defeated. Bugden has played in all but three of Providence's first 16 games and she has made 257 saves on 279 shots for a save percentage of .921 and a goals against average of 1.84. Bugden ranks second in the conference for save percentage (.955) and goals against average (0.75) and is ranked first overall when considering all games.
