WEST HARTFORD, CONN. - The Providence College men's lacrosse team was defeated by Hartford, 16-9, in non-conference action on Tuesday, April 2, in West Hartford, Connecticut.
Providence scored the first goal of the game with 10:22 left in the first period. The Hawks responded with six consecutive goals including three in the next :58 seconds. Providence cut the lead to four, 6-2, with :30 seconds left in the half. The Friars scored the first two goals of the second half to get within two, but Hartford responded with seven straight goals to take their largest lead of the game at 13-4.
The Friars were led by senior Kyle Ojakian (Cheshire, Conn.), who netted two goals and added four assists. Junior Jon Meehan (Peabody, Mass.) also scored two goals in the PC effort.
Hartford was led by Francey who had six goals and an assist in the win. Teammate Tom Fallica had two goals and two assists and Kevin Garvey added two goals. Senior Brian LaMastro had a goal and three assists. Providence was led by Kyle Ojakian who had two goals and four assists. John Meehan added two goals for the Friars.
Providence falls to 6-3 overall on the season and will travel to Buffalo, N.Y. to take on Canisius in MAAC action on Saturday, April 6. The game is scheduled to be played at 10:00 a.m.
