Providence College senior forward Danielle Culgin (Framingham, Mass.) was named Women's HOCKEY EAST Co-Player of the Week on November 4, 2002.
Culgin earned the honor for her strong offensive play in the Friars two games last week versus Boston College and Dartmouth College. On Friday, November 1 Culgin helped the Friars defeat the Eagles, 4-1, with two assists. The first of her two assists came on sophomore Mara Amrhein's (Waukesha, Wis.) first collegiate goal which was also the first goal in HOCKEY EAST competition. Culgin was again an intricate part of Providence's attempted comeback against No. 4 Dartmouth College on Sunday, November 3. Culgin scored the first goal for the Friars at the 18:37 mark of the first period for her third tally of the season. Then in the third period as Providence was trying to climb back in to the game Culgin assisted on fellow senior Jenn Butsch's (Berlin, Vt.) power play goal. The Friar comeback fell short as the game ended, 3-2. Culgin is currently second on the team in scoring with three goals and three assists for a total of six points.
Providence College's next games are on Saturday and Sunday, November 19-20 at 1:00 p.m. at the University of Maine.
