Tim Ryan Selected To Play In All-Star Game.

Senior defenseman Tim Ryan (Long Meadow, Mass.) has been selected to play in the 2001 New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association East-West Senior All-Star Game.

Ryan finished fourth on the team in gourndballs with 33, and posted a .446 face-off percentage (37 for 83). The All-Star game is scheduled to be played at Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts on Sunday, May 13 at 2:00 p.m. Ryan was a selected as a defenseman for the West, and will play for Peter Lasagna. Lasagna is the head coach at Bates (Maine). Ryan attended Longmeadow High School from 1994 to 1997, and is the son of Edmond and Geraldine Ryan.

Providence finished the season with a 7-9 overall record, and a 5-4 mark in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play. The Friars finished fourth in the Conference and earned their first-ever invitation to post-seaon play, by qualifying for the MAAC Championships in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. The Friars were eliminated by top-seed Quinnipiac, 13-2, on Saturday, May 5.
