Holy Cross (0-1): Holy Cross will host Providence College in the Crusaders first home game of the year and second game of the season. Holy Cross fell to Fairfield 15-6, on the road, in its season opener. The Crusaders had six different players score one goal apiece in the loss. Goalkeeper Brian Hodgden made 14 saves in the loss, allowing all 15 Fairfield goals. The Crusaders lead the all-time series against Providence College 12-8. The Friars claimed a 10-9 victory over Holy Cross in the teams' last meeting during the 2000 season.
Providence College (0-0): Providence College will travel to Holy Cross for a 3:00 p.m. game, to open the 2001 season. Head coach Chris Burdick is in his third year at Providence and holds a 10-20 record over the past two season. Last year, the Friars finished the year with a 5-10 overall record and finished fifth in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) at 4-5. Chris Houston is the Friar's top returning scorer from a year ago. In 2000, Houston finished second on the team in scoring with 36 points on 30 goals and six assists. Jim Dooley is another key returner. Dooley was second in scoring last season with 30 points on 22 goals and eight assists. The Friars beat Holy Cross 10-9 a year ago and trails the Crusaders in the all-time series 8-12.
