University of Maine Black Bears (2-2-0/0-2-0 ECAC) - The University of Maine women's hockey team is coming off a pair of ECAC losses (3-1, 4-1) against New Hampshire on Friday, October 26 and Saturday, October 27. The Black Bears opened the season with two wins over Colgate on October 20 and 21. Maine is led by sophomore forwards Meagan Aarts (Watford, Ont.) and Karen Droog (Listowel, Ont.) who have posted three goals and one assist (four points) each. The Black Bears will look to beat the Friars for the first time ever. Maine is 0-5-1 all-time against Providence.

Providence College Friars (2-2-0/0-0-0 ECAC) - The Providence College women's hockey team begins its ECAC schedule by hosting the University of Maine on Saturday, November 3 and Sunday, November 4. The Friars posted two wins over Findlay on October 26 (4-2) and 27 (8-3) at Schneider Arena. Sophomore forward Kelli Halcisak (Grosse Ile, Mich.) led the Friars with two goals and two assists in the wins. For her efforts, Halcisak was named ECAC Player of the Week. Junior forward Danielle Culgin (Framingham, Mass.) tallied one goal and three assists over the weekend. Halcisak and Culgin lead the squad in scoring with two goals and four assists each. Junior defenseman Melanie Ruzzi (Burnsville, Minn.) and sophomore forward Darlene Stephenson (Virden, Manitoba) finished with four points each in the two games. Last season, the Friars posted a 1-0-1 mark against the Black Bears. The lone win was a 1-0 decision on December 2, 2000 as Culgin tallied the game-winning goal.
