PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Sophomore Chris LaRose (Merrick, N.Y.) scored four goals to lead Marist to a 10-7 win against Providence College in MAAC men's lacrosse action on Saturday, April 8 at Providence, R.I.
Marist got off to a 2-0 lead after 15 minutes of action. Senior Joe Aniano (Franklin Square, N.Y.) and junior Ryan McCue (Maplewood, N.J.) each had unassisted goals in the first period for the Red Foxes.
Marist went on to outscore PC, 4-1, in the second quarter, with goals from LaRose, McCue, sophomore Paul Donohue (Fair Lawn, N.J.) and Aniano.
Providence got on the board late in the second quarter as senior Ken Leahy (Cohasset, Mass.) netted a pass from junior Jeff Merklinger (South Orange, N.J.) with just under four minutes left in the half.
The Friars tied the Red Foxes, 2-2, in the third quarter, as LaRose scored two more goals for Marist, and Dan Moran (Skaneateles, N.Y.) and Jim Dooley (Maplewood, N.J.) added a goal apiece for Providence.
PC then attempted a fourth quarter rally, outscoring their guest, 4-2 in the final 15 minutes of the game, but it was not enough offense as the Red Foxes earned its fourth win of the season.
With the victory, Marist improved to 4-4 overall and 3-2 in the MAAC, while Providence fell to 5-5 overall and 4-2 in the MAAC.
The Friars will return to action on Wednesday, April 12 against Canisius College in Buffalo, N.Y. at 1:00 p.m.
