Stony Brook got off to a 3-1 lead after 15 minutes of action. D'Orazio scored all his goals in the first quarter, with an assist from junior Jesse Fosse on his final goal.
Sophomore Chris Houston got the Friars on the scoreboard, scoring his lone goal of the game with seven minutes remaining in the first quarter. Stony Brook outscored PC, 5-1, in the second quarter and held a 8-2 lead at halftime.
Stony Brook kept Providence off the scoreboard in the third quarter and tallied one goal by sophomore Denis Scannell. The Friars tied Stony Brook, 3-3, in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough offense as the Sea Wolves earned its second win of the season.
With the victory, Stony Brook improved to 2-6 overall, while Providence fell to 5-4 overall.
The Friars will return to action on Saturday, April 8 against Marist College at PC's Glay Field at 2:00 p.m.
