Men's Lacrosse Defeats Canisius 13-8

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The Providence College Friars defeated Canisius College, 13-8, on Sunday, April 5 in men's lacrosse action at Buffalo, N.Y. Freshman Jeff Merklinger led the Friar offense with a career high five goals.

Providence trailed, 6-5, at halftime, but fought back with eight goals over the last 30 minutes, including four unanswered tallies in the third quarter to earn the win.

PC junior goalkeeper Rob Chambers and Canisius netminder Kevin Rozo each registered 19 saves in the game.

With the win, Providence raised its record to 3-4 overall and 2-3 in MAAC action, while Canisius dropped to 0-6 overall and 0-4 in league play.

PC returns to action on Thursday, April 9 at Fairfield at 2:00 p.m.
