PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Junior Ken Leahy netted four goals and notched three assists to lead Providence College to a 16-10 victory against Boston College in men's lacrosse action on Wednesday, April 28 at Providence, R.I.
Spearheaded by freshman Steve Heo's two goals, the Friars took a 5-2 lead after 15 minutes of action. The Eagles battled back in the second quarter, outscoring PC, 4-1, to force a 6-6 tie at halftime. Senior Tyler Jewell led the Eagle offense with two goals in the first 30 minutes of play.
Leahy and sophomore Jim Dooley paced the Providence attack in the third quarter with two goals each as the Friars scored six goals in the third quarter to build a 12-7 lead.
In a tighly played fourth quarter, Providence outscored Boston College, 4-3. Junior Kieran O'Connor netted two goals in the final 15 minutes of play for BC.
Providence senior Matt Pymm played a strong game for the Friars, registering one goal and six assists. Pymm's six assists gave him 100 for his career and broke the PC all-time assist mark of 97 established by Jack Crowley (1985-89).
Senior Pat McCavanaugh led the Eagle offense with four points (one goal, three assists).
PC senior goaltender Robb Chambers backstopped the Friars, recording 26 saves on 52 shots.
With the win, Providence raised its record to 4-10, while Boston College fell to 4-7 overall.
The Friars will return to action on May 1 against Hartford at PC's Glay Field at 1:00 p.m.
