Lyle scored four goals in the first quarter to help the Bears jump out to a 7-0 lead after 15 minutes of action. Brown continued to press on offense in the second quarter, scoring three more unanswered goals to earn a 10-0 lead at halftime.
The Friars got on the scoreboard in the third quarter as Jim Dooley netted PC's first goal. Dooley added one more goal in the third and Chris Houston also scored for the Friars. PC increased its offense in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Bears, 4-3, over the final 15 minutes of the game. Houston, Rory Wentworth, Matt Pymm and Brian Walker all scored for the Friars in the fourth quarter.
With the win Brown raised its record to 1-1 while Providence fell to 0-3 overall.
The Friars will return to action on March 13 against Stony Brook at Stony Brook, N.Y. at 1:00 p.m.
