Three Friars Earned BIG EAST Weekly Awards

Rhett Chambers named Offensive Player of the Week and Ian Olenik earned Specialist of the Week; Cam Sterritt featured on the Honor Roll.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College men's lacrosse players Rhett Chambers (Larchmont, N.Y.), Ian Olenik (Windham, N.H.) and Cam Sterritt (Brampton, Ont.) earned BIG EAST Weekly Honors on Monday, Feb. 9. Chambers was named Offensive Player of the Week and Olenik earned Specialist of the Week. Sterritt was named to the Weekly Honor Roll. The awards span the first two weeks of the 2026 season. Providence defeated Holy Cross 15-10 (Jan. 31) and Bryant 16-11 (Feb. 6) during that time.
 
Chambers led the Friar's offense with 15 points in the team's 2-0 start to the season. In the season opener at Holy Cross, the junior attackman recorded six points on a career-best four goals and added two assists. Chambers followed with a career day in the team's home opener versus Bryant. He recorded a career-high nine points on four goals and a career-best five assists in the win. Chambers currently leads the BIG EAST in points per game (7.50), goals per game (4.00) and assists per game (3.50).
 
Olenik made an impact in multiple phases on the game in the Friar's two wins. He recorded three assists, eight ground balls and seven caused turnovers. The senior long-stick midfielder tallied a career-best two assists, paired with three ground balls and a caused turnover at Holy Cross. Olenik had a standout performance in the Friar's win versus Bryant as he registered career-highs in ground balls (five) and caused turnovers (six). He currently leads the BIG EAST in caused turnovers per game (3.50).
 
Sterritt made his collegiate debut against Holy Cross and tallied 15 saves on a .600 save percentage. The sophomore goalie followed with a career-high 16 saves on a .593 save percentage versus Bryant to help the Friars move to a 2-0 start to the season.
 
WHAT'S NEXT... The Friars travel to Cambridge, Mass., to face No. 12/13 Harvard on Feb. 14. Faceoff is set for 2:00 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
