Luke Jaber recorded a team-best four goals in the Friar effort.

VILLANOVA, PA. – The No. 3-seed Providence College men's lacrosse team was defeated by No. 2 seed and 10th-ranked Georgetown, 14-13, in overtime on May 2 in the BIG EAST Conference Semifinals in Villanova, Pa. Georgetown's Aidan Carroll scored a career-high seven goals for the Hoyas, including the game winner with 48.3-seconds remaining in overtime. The Friars concluded their season with a 7-8 overall record, while the Hoyas improved to 11-3. Georgetown will advance to the BIG EAST Championship Game to face No. 4-seed Villanova on Saturday, May 4.
  
1st Quarter: 

- The score was tied at 4-4 after the first quarter.
- Patrick McAleavey (Trumbull, Conn.) and Luke Jaber (Milton, Mass.) scored back-to-back goals to give the Friars a quick two-goal lead.
- Providence extended its lead to 4-2 as Jaber and Richie Joseph (Longmeadow, Mass) each tallied goals.
- Georgetown closed the quarter with two unanswered goals to tie the game, 4-4.
- Each team recorded 11 shots in the first quarter.

2nd Quarter: 
- Georgetown outscored Providence, 5-3, in the second quarter to take the 9-7 lead at halftime.
- The Hoyas scored two goals to open the quarter and claimed a 6-4 lead with 9:56 on the clock.
- Michael Chabra (Reading, Mass.) scored his first goal of the game to get Providence within one (6-5), but the Hoyas responded with three-straight goals to take a 9-5 advantage with 1:58 left on the clock.
- The Friars closed out the half with back-to-back goals and cut the deficit to 9-7. Joseph and Jaber scored the Providence goals, while Ryan Bell (Smithtown, N.Y.) earned two assists.
- With Bell's assist on Joseph's goal at the 1:13 mark of the second quarter, he set the single-season assist record (43) and the single-season points record (64).

3rd Quarter: 
- Providence scored five-straight goals to start the third quarter and outscored Georgetown 5-1 overall in the frame.
- Jaber scored his fourth goal of the game, followed by Joseph's third goal of the night at 12:48 and 11:34, respectively. 
- Jack Horrigan (Lutherville, Md.) scored his first goal of the game at the 7:07 mark to help Providence regain the lead (10-9).
- Chabra and Chris Cusolito (Melrose, Mass.) extended the Friars' lead to 12-9 with goals at 5:27 and 2:27, respectively.
- The Hoyas scored their lone goal of the quarter with 1:19 left on the clock.
- Providence took a 12-10 lead into the final frame.
 
4th Quarter: 
- The Hoyas scored back-to-back goals to tie the game, 12-12, with 12:32 remaining in the game. 
- Horrigan answered with his second goal of the night to help Providence regain the lead (13-12).
- Alexander Vadaro scored the game-tying goal for Georgetown with 3:50 left in regulation and the two teams finished regulation tied, 13-13.
- Providence was 5-0 at the face-off X in the fourth quarter.
 
Overtime:
- Carroll scored the game-winning goal with 48.3-seconds left in overtime to give Georgetown a 14-13 victory.

Notes:    
- Bell finished the night with three assists. He completed the 2024 campaign with a program-best 45 assists and 66 points. He surpassed the previous record holder, Kyle Ojakian '02, who previously set both single-season records in 2002 with 42 assists and 63 points. 
- Jaber finished the game with a team-high four goals
- Joseph recorded three goals, which marked his team-best eighth hattrick of the season.
- Horrigan and Chabra each recorded two goals and one assist.
- Cusolito added one goal and one assist.
- James Corasaniti registered nine saves in goal for Providence.
- Providence held a 44-41 advantage in shots and won the face-off battle, 17-14.
- Georgetown held a 33-30 edge in groundballs.
