Three Friars Earn BIG EAST Weekly Honors For Lacrosse

Quinn McConnaughey earned BIG EAST Specialist of the Week, while Ryan Bell and Gregg Dennison were named to the Honor Roll.

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Providence College men's lacrosse players Quinn McConnaughey (Cohasset, Mass.), Ryan Bell (Smithtown, N.Y.) and Gregg Dennison (Acton, Mass.) earned BIG EAST Weekly Honors on Monday, Feb. 5, following the team's season-opening victory over Holy Cross. McConnaughey was named Specialist of the Week, while Bell and Dennison earned Honor Roll recognition. 
 
McConnaughey, who earned BIG EAST Specialist of the Week, went 15 for 21 on faceoffs going .714 to start the season. He also recorded a team-high seven ground balls. Last season, McConnaughey had a team-high 48 ground balls and finished the season .468 from the X.
 
 
Bell, who earned BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, registered seven points on five goals and two assists. It marked his first hattrick of the season and third of his career. Bell moved into 21st place on the Friars all-time scoring list with 11 career points. His two assists against the Crusaders moved him into ninth place in career assists at Providence, he is tied with Ken Leahy '99, with 76 assists. Last season, Bell finished first on the team in scoring, with 61 points on 21 goals and 40 assists.  
 
Dennison, who earned BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, led a Friar defense that held Holy Cross to six goals. He picked up 5 ground balls. Last season, Dennison recorded 28 groundballs and caused 13 turnovers. 
 
WHATS NEXT:
Providence returns to action against Ocean State Foe Bryant on Saturday, Feb. 10. The Friars will host the game on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium and opening faceoff is set for 12:00 p.m.
