Providence Women’s Distance Medley Relay Team Sets Program Record

The team’s time set a program record and ranks second all-time in collegiate history.
BOSTON, Mass.– Members of the Providence College women's track team competed at the Boston University DMR Challenge in Boston, Mass. on Friday, Feb. 16. The Friars' distance medley relay team performance set a program record and ranks second all-time in collegiate history.
The team comprised of Kimberley May (Auckland, New Zealand), Shannon Flockhart (Longstanton, England), Alex O'Neill (Ennis, Ireland) and Jill Fenerty (Franklin, Mass.) finished the distance medley relay in a time of 10:44.07 and finished second in the event.
The previous program record of 11:04.45 was set in March 1990 by Geraldine Nolan, Jacqui Stokes, Siobhan Gallagher and Geraldine Hendricken.
Running unattached in the mile, Abel Laadjel (Lucan, Ireland) finished with a personal record time of 3:59.89.
The rest of the Friars compete tomorrow, Feb. 16 at the Brown Invitational in Providence, R.I. with events beginning at 10:30 a.m.
