Kimberley May Sets School Record In 800 Meters

BOSTON, Mass. — The Providence College men's and women's indoor track teams competed at the UMass Flagship Invitational at The Track at New Balance on Sunday, Jan. 14 in Boston, Mass. Kimberley May (Auckland, New Zealand) set a school record in the 800 meters.
In the 800 meters, Kimberley May (Auckland, New Zealand) finished first and set a school record with a 2:04.47 time. May's time also marked a personal record.
Shannon Flockhart (Longstanton, England) won the 1,000 meters in 2:42.78. Flockhart's time is tied for second all-time in program history and marked a personal record. Cara Laverty (Derry, Ireland) ran a 2:48.41 to finish second.
Alex O'Neill (Ennis, Ireland) ran a personal record of 1:14.06 in the 500 meters to finish second. O'Neill's performance ranked second all-time in program history.
Three Friars finished in the top-10 in the 3,000 meters. Lily Tuck (Sunderland, Canada) placed second in 9:40.43. Tuck was followed by Reese Fahys (East Greenwich, R.I.) in fifth (9:48.95) and Niamh O'Mahony (Kerry, Ireland) in seventh with a personal record (9:49.41).
Nicole Borowiec (Denville, N.J.) placed sixth in the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 8.90.
In the 400 meters, Jillian Fennerty (Franklin, Mass.) ran a 57.99 to finish sixth overall.
On the men's side, Michael Morgan (Sligo, Ireland) placed first in the mile with a personal record time of 4:02.41. Patrick Thygesen (Brisbane, Australia) followed in second place in 4:06.72.
Liam Back (New Plymouth, New Zealand) won the 1,000 meters in 2:24.44. Will Johnston (Auckland, New Zealand) followed in 2:26.84 for fourth place.
In the 3,000 meters, Luke Coffin (Annapolis, Md.) ran a 8:22.83 to place first and Shane Coffey (Naas, Ireland) finished second in 8:24.24.
The Friars return to action on Saturday, Jan. 20 at the University of Rhode Island Invitational.
