Men’s and Women’s Track And Field Teams Compete At URI Invitational

KINGSTON, R.I. – The Providence College men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed today, Jan. 20 at the University of Rhode Island Invitational in Kingston, R.I.
Alex O'Neill (Ennis, Ireland) led the Friar women with a first place finish (2:48.79) in the 1,000 meters. Tessa Hunt (Wellington, New Zealand) followed in second place with a time of 2:54.63.
Laura Mooney (Cappincur, Ireland) won the 3,000 meters in 9:43.62.
Nicole Borowiec (Denville, N.J.) ran an 8.33 in the 60-meter hurdles to finish fourth.
Jill Fenerty (Franklin, Mass.) placed fourth (25.97) in the 200 meters. Margaret Kemper (Huntington, N.Y.) and Jenna Jacobs (Jefferson, N.Y.) followed Fenerty in eighth (26.60) and ninth (26.64), respectively.
On the men's side, Jon Mignacca (Seekonk, Mass.) finished second in the high jump with a height of 1.96 meters. Mignacca's performance ranks third all-time in program history.
In the 3,000 meters, Will Johnston (Auckland, New Zealand) placed first in 8:35.95 and Claudio Rocha (Peabody, Mass.) finished seventh in 9:02.65.
Josh Lewin (West Chester, Pa.) ran a 1:06.63 to place second in the 500 meters.
Brett Lehman (Lower Gwynedd, Pa.) ran a 23.06 to finish third in the 200 meters.
The Friars return to action on Jan. 26-27 at the Boston University Terrier Classic in Boston, Mass.
