PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College volleyball team is set to host the 18
th Annual Friar Volleyball Classic on September 8-9 at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I. The first day of the tournament will feature two matches, followed by four matches on the second and final day. The Friars will be joined by Saint Peter's University, Bryant and Central Connecticut.

SCOUTING THE FRIARS:
The Friars are entering the tournament with a 2-4 record. Most recently, Providence attended the Abilene Christian University Tournament, where they went 2-1 on the weekend with wins over the University of North Dakota and Grambling State.
Shaliyah Rhoden (Rowlett, Texas) and
Macy Taylor (Rowlett, Texas) each earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team.
Taylor leads the Friars' offense in kills, with 65. This past weekend in Abilene, she notched 39 kills and 28 digs through three matches to earn a spot on the All-Tournament Team.
Rhoden has recorded 60 kills for the Friars offense. This past weekend, she paced the team in kills, with 40, through three matches. She earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team.
Savannah Ivie (Frisco, Texas) leads the Friars' defense with 89 digs. She ranks seventh in the BIG EAST in digs per a set, with 3.56.
As a team, Providence ranks first in the BIG EAST in service aces per a set, with 1.76.
SCOUTING SIANT PETER'S: Saint Peter's returns to the Friar Classic this year with a record of 0-7. The Peacocks most recently participated in the Seton Hall Classic, where they fell to NJIT, George Mason, Seton Hall, and Lafayette College.
Freshman Georgia Remmers leads the Peacocks' offense with 32 kills.
Freshman Crystal Nguyen has team high, 40 digs, averaging 3.64 digs a set.
Sophomore Morgan Thurlow leads the team in blocks, with 14, and has added 26 kills for Saint Peter's.
SCOUTING BRYANT:
Bryant enters the Friar Classic with a 5-2 record. This past weekend they hosted the Bryant Tournament, where they went 2-1. On Wednesday they beat Holy Cross in three sets.
Junior Aubrey Lapour has a team high, 106 kills, averaging 3.53 kills a set.
Senior Josie Deluga leads the defense in digs, with 104.
Sophomore Arianna Ugolini has added 87 kills and 65 digs for the Bulldogs.
SCOUTING CENTRAL CONNECTICUT:
Central Connecticut enters the tournament with an 0-7 record. The Blue Devils most recently played in the American Invitational Tournament, where they fell to Marist, American and NJIT.
Sophomore Poczynek Weronika leads the team in both kills and digs. She has registered 57 kills and 58 digs.
Junior Lauren Milani also leads the team in digs, with 58.
As a team, the Peacocks have registered 236 kills and 296 digs through 7 matches.
WHATS NEXT:
The Friars will head to Boston, Mass. on September 15 to play in the Boston College / Harvard Tournament. Providence will play Boston College, Merrimack and Harvard. Following this tournament, the Friars will begin BIG EAST play at Seton Hall on September 22 at 6:00 p.m.
