NEW YORK, N.Y. – Providence College women's soccer players
Kayla Briggs (Toronto, Canada), and
Kyla Gallagher (Farmington, Conn.) earned BIG EAST Weekly Awards on Monday, Aug. 21 following their performances last week against Iona and Quinnipiac. The Friars went 2-0-0 on the week, defeating Iona and Quinnipiac on their home turf.
Briggs, who was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, led Providence with two assists in each win against Iona and Quinnipiac. She also drew a penalty against Quinnipiac that led to a penalty kick goal. She currently leads the Friars in assists with four.
Gallagher, who was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, helped lead the offense with a goal in each game. She tallied four shots on goal and played a combined 151 minutes in the two games.
The Friars will return to action on Sunday, Aug. 27 against the University of Rhode Island at 7:00 p.m. in Kingston, R.I.
