PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's soccer team was defeated by the No. 20 Xavier (12-2-2, 7-0-1 BIG EAST), 2-0, on Oct. 18 in Providence, R.I. The Friars fell to a 4-6-3 overall and (1-4-2 BIG EAST). The Friars will return to action when they host Marquette on Oct. 22 at 6:00 p.m. in Providence, R.I.

• With under three minutes to go in the first half (42:38), Presley Pennekamp scored a right-footed strike from inside the box and gave Xavier a 1-0 lead.
• Xavier controlled the game's possession early, earning 10 corner kicks in the first half.
• In the 56th minute (65:01), Samantha Erbach scored from the left side of the box and extended Xavier's lead to 2-0. Erbach's goal was assisted on a well-placed cross from Pennekamp.
