The Friars will continue BIG EAST play versus Connecticut on Wednesday, Oct. 1

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Providence College women's soccer team was defeated by the Butler University Bulldogs (4-1-5, 1-0-2 BIG EAST), 3-1, on Sept. 27 in Indianapolis, Ind. The Friars dropped to 3-3-2 overall record and a 0-1-1 mark in BIG EAST play. Amaya Coffie (Warwick, R.I.) scored the lone goal for Providence. The Friars will return to action when they host BIG EAST rival Connecticut on Wednesday, Oct. 1.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
• Butler struck first in the 22nd minute (21:08) when Alyssa Carlson scored to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. Her goal was the result of two quick touches from Lea Larouche and Talia Sommer, who were credited with assists on the play.
• In the 25th minute (24:22), Coffie responded with a goal and tied the game, 1-1. Coffie intercepted a Butler pass and chipped it over the Bulldog defense from inside the box to score.
• Butler found the back of the net with under three minutes to play in the first half (42:56) and took back the lead at 2-1. Lucia Englund scored for the Bulldogs and was assisted by Lea Larouche and Chloe Brecht.
• Butler outshot the Friars by a margin of 5-3 in the first half.
• The Bulldogs opened the second half with a goal delivered by Talia Sommer and took a two-goal lead (3-1). Sommer's goal was assisted by Lea Larouche and Lucia Englund.
• Butler outshot the Friars 10-8 in the match.
