Kelsey Holmes, Shea DuPuis and Megan Weldon will join the Friars in the 2023 season.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Head Coach Margot Royer-Johnson announced today, Apr. 14, that Kelsey Holmes, Shea Dupuis and Megan Weldon will join the Providence College volleyball team in the fall of 2023.

Kelsey Holmes is a 6'0 setter/right-side hitter from Howard County, Md. Holmes attends Reservoir High School where she has been a four-year varsity player. Holmes has been part of two 3A East Region II Championship teams (2021, 2022) and a 3A State Championship team in 2021. After the 2022 season, she was named to Baltimore Sun's First-Team All-Metro. Holmes also competes for U18 VA Juniors Volleyball Club.

"Kelsey is a great addition to this talented class. She has the will to win, but more importantly, to get better every day and to push her teammates to get better every day," said Royer-Johnson, "her length at the setter position will help us and we are excited about her blocking and attacking abilities on the right side."

Shea Dupuis is a 6'0 right-side hitter from Richardson, Texas. Dupuis attends J. J. Pearce High School where she was named First-Team All-District in 2020. The right-side hitter was named District 7-6A Hitter of the Year for two-consecutive years in 2021 and 2022. Additionally, she received 2022 RISD All-City MVP in her senior season. Dupuis also competes for Madfrog 18 National Black.

"We are excited to add Shea to the best recruiting class we feel that we have ever had," said Royer-Johnson, "she has a heavy arm and is experienced on both the right side and in the middle. Her energy is contagious, and we know she will make an immediate impact for us."

Megan Weldon is a 6'0 six-rotation pin hitter from Keller, Texas. Weldon attended Nolan Catholic High School for two years before transferring to The Oakridge School to finish her high school career. In her two years at The Oakridge School, she broke the school record for kills per season and career-kills, reaching the 1000-kill milestone. Weldon earned back-to-back Offensive MVP honors and SPC All-Conference Honors in 2021 and 2022. The newcomer was also named to LoneStar Prep's Top 2023 Hitters in 2022. Weldon also competes for Drive Nation 18 Black. With her club program, she earned Player to Watch at Nationals in 2022 and at the AVC Qualifier in 2023.

"Megan is a great player who can hit from both pins. She is long and aggressive and will help us with her length and knowledge of the game," said Royer-Johnson, "she is a perfect fit for the program as she is passionate about the game, her teammates, and academics. We expect great things from her!"
