BOSTON, Mass.- The Providence College women's indoor track team competed in Boston, Mass. at the Boston University Terrier Classic on Saturday, Jan. 28. Seven of the Friar women set personal records.
Lilly Tuck (Sunderland, Canada) won the 5000-meters in 16:06.68. Niamh O'Mahony (Kerry, Ireland) followed Tuck with a fourth-place finish in 16:42.35 for a personal record. In the 1000-meter,
Alex O'Neill (Ennis, Ireland) finished first in her heat in 2:47.50 and
Tessa Hunt (Wellington, New Zealand) set a personal record in the event of 2.49.33.
Lexi Brent (York, Maine) finished the 800-meters in 2:18.18.
Halle Atkinson (Franklin, Mass.) ran a 1:16.30 in the 500-meters for a personal record.
Meg Hughes (Rochester, Mass.) and
Jill Fenerty (Franklin, Mass.) each set personal records in the 400-meters with times of 56.97 and 57.03, respectively.
In the prelims of the 60-meter hurdles,
Nicole Borowiec (Morristown, N.J.) ran a 9.16 to qualify for the finals and
Charlotte Cousins (Madbury, N.H.) ran a personal record of 9.24.
Hawa Grear (Providence, R.I.) led the Friar women in the 200-meters with a time of 26.23. Following Grear was
Taylor Newman (Old Tappan, N.J.) in 26.51 and
Elena Cabral (Somerset, Mass.) marking a personal record of 26.86.
The Friars are back in action Friday, Feb. 10 and Saturday, Feb. 11 at Boston University's Valentine Invitational.
