BOSTON, Mass.- The Providence College men's and women's indoor track teams competed in Boston, Mass. at the UMass Flagship Invitational on Sunday, Jan. 15.
Alex O'Neill (Ennis, Ireland) finished fourth in the 500-meter in a time of 1:16.80.
Meg Hughes (Rochester, Mass.) ran the 400-meter dash in 58:02 for seventh place.
Kimberley May (Auckland, New Zealand) placed second in the 1000-meter run in 2:52.84.
Ashley Foley (Beverly, Mass.) had an eighth place finish in the one mile with a time of 5:09.90.
Lilly Tuck (Sunderland, Canada) won the 3000-meter race in a time of 9:27.23. Also finishing in the top-10 was
Orla O'Connor (Waterford, Ireland) who finished ninth overall (10:03.63).
On the men's side, the Friars sealed four of the top-five places in the 3000-meter run.
Marcelo Rocha (Peabody, Mass.) won the 3000-meters (8:06.37), followed by
David McGlynn (Waterford, Ireland) with a third place finish (8:18.43),
Shane Coffey (Naas, Ireland) finishing fourth (8:19.15),
Pat Thygesen (Brisbane, Australia) raced to a first-place finish and a personal record in the mile (4:07.18). Crossing the line shortly after was
Abdel Laadjel (Lucan, Ireland) in third place and setting a personal record with a time of 4:10.28.
Jacob Hefele (Danbury, Conn.) finished the 3000-meter in fifth place in 8:26.56 for a personal best.
Josh Lewin (West Chester, Pa.) set a new personal record in the 1000-meter with a third place finish in a time of 2:29.21.
Tim Dolan (Cinnaminson, N.J.) also set a new personal best in the 1000-meter with a time of 2:31.14 for a sixth place finish.
The Friars compete next on Saturday, Jan. 21 at the University of Rhode Island Solheim Invite in Kingston, R.I.
