PROVIDENCE, R.I.- It was announced today, Sept. 5 that Providence College graduate defensive specialist,
Mackenzie Taylor (Holbrook, N.Y.) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for volleyball.
In a 2-1 weekend for the Friars, Taylor led the BIG EAST in digs with 67 (4.79 digs/set). The graduate student started off the weekend tallying the most digs in a match in the BIG EAST this season with 32 in a four-set win over Texas A&M Commerce. She followed that with 14 in a five-set win over North Texas, before ending the weekend with 21 in a 3-2 setback at UT Arlington. The 21 digs were the second-most in a five-set match in the BIG EAST last week. She also contributed seven assists and a service ace.

Taylor received All-Tournament honors at the UTA Classic in Arlington, Texas this past weekend. The graduate student currently has 107 digs on the season.
WHAT'S NEXT… The Friars will return home to host The 17
th Annual Friar Volleyball Classic on September 9-10. The tournament will consist of six matches over two days. The teams joining the Friars include Saint Peter's, NJIT and Holy Cross. Providence will open the tournament against Saint Peter's on Friday Sept. 9 at 4:30 p.m. On Saturday, Sept. 10, the Friars will take on NJIT at 1:30 p.m. before closing the tournament against Holy Cross at 5:30 p.m.
