The Friars earned the 2021-22 USMC / AVCA Team Academic Award.

PROVIDENCE, R.I.– The United States Marine Corps (USMC) and the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced today (July 18) that more than 1,200 teams have earned the USMC / AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2021-22 season. The Providence College volleyball team was honored among the 214 NCAA Division I programs that earned recognition.

"Academic achievement does not happen by accident," said AVCA Executive Director Kathy DeBoer. "I'm so proud of the hundreds of coaching staffs that make excellence in the classroom a priority."

The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
