BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Providence College graduate students
AJ Ernst (Marblehead, Mass.) and
Angus White (New Plymouth, New Zealand) ran in the 1,500 meter Quarterfinals and sophomore
Pat Thygesen (Brisbane, Australia) competed in the steeplechase today (May 27) at the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track East Preliminary competitions at Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind.
Ernst ran a season-best time of 3:40.05 in the 1,500 meters, which enabled him to qualify for the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships held June 8-11 in Eugene, Oregon. It marks the second consecutive year that Ernst has qualified for the NCAA Championship as he earned Second Team All-America honors last season in the 1,500 (3:39.00). White ran a personal best time of 3:45.09 in the 1,500 meters.
In the steeplechase, Thygesen ran the race in a time of 8:56.95, which placed him 24
th of 48 competitors.
The Friars will return to action on Saturday as sophomore Shannon Flockhart (Longstanton, England) will run in the 1,500 meter Quarterfinals at 5:15 p.m. and junior Lily Tuck (Sunderland, Canada) will compete in the 5,000 meters at 8:10 p.m.
