Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track Set To Compete At The BIG EAST Championships

The BIG EAST Championships are scheduled for February 25-26 in Chicago, Ill.
PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College men's and women's indoor track teams will travel to Chicago, Ill. for the BIG EAST Indoor Track Championships on Friday, Feb. 25 and Saturday, Feb. 26. The two-day event will be held at the Gately Indoor Track and Field Facility and will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network on FloSports. Day one of the meet will begin at 9:00 a.m. and the final day will begin at 10:00 a.m.

Headlining the Friar women will be Alex O'Neil (Ennis, Ire.) and Shannon Flockhart (Longstanton, England) in the 800-meters and one mile, respectively. O'Neil ran a personal-best of 2:06.77 in the 800-meters on Jan. 28 at the John Thomas Terrier Classic in Boston, Mass. Flockhart also ran a personal-best in the John Thomas Terrier Classic on Jan. 28, finishing in a time of 4:36.64. Lily Tuck (Sunderland, Canada) and Laura Mooney (Cappincur, Ire.) will also be representing the Friars in the 5,000-meter and 3,000-meter run, respectively. At the David Hemery Valentine Invitational on Feb. 11, Mooney ran a personal best of 9:18.83 in the 3,000-meter.
For the men, Liam Back (New Plymouth, New Zealand) and Ryan Gallagher (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.) will be competing in the 3,000-meter event. In the indoor season opener at Boston University on Dec. 4, Back tabbed a personal best time of 7:54.30 in the 3,000-meter. Angus White (New Plymouth, New Zealand) will race in the one mile and David McGlynn (Waterford, Ire.) and Abdel Laadjel (Lucan, Ire.) will race in the 5,000-meter. Chris Johns (Longmeadow, Mass.) will compete in the high jump.
