PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College volleyball team fell to the No. 21 Creighton Bluejays in straight sets on Saturday, Oct. 8 in Providence, R.I.
FIRST SET HIGHLIGHTS: Creighton took set one, 25-13.
- Providence had a strong start, notching a 10-6 lead early in the set.
- The Bluejays rallied back by going on a 12-2 run to give them an 18-12 lead.
- After tying the set at 12, the Bluejays led the Friars the rest of the way.

Emma Nelson (West Chester, Pa.) tied Creighton's Norah Sis for a set-high three kills.

Brielle Mullally (Garden Grove, Calif.) and
Sammie Ruggles (North Olmsted, Ohio) combined for five assists.
SECOND SET HIGHLIGHTS: Creighton won the set, 25-22.
- Creighton started the second set on a 6-1 run, forcing a Providence timeout. The Friars went on a 4-2 run out of the timeout to cut their deficit to three.
- Providence found themselves down 21-10 but rallied to score 11 of the next 13 points to get within two (23-21). The Friars' 11-point run included two kills by
Shaliyah Rhoden (Rowlett, Texas).

Jiji Lykins (Coral Spring, Fla.) paced the Friars defensively, collecting a team-best eight digs.
- Rhoden notched four kills to lead Providence, Nelson added three more.
THIRD SET HIGHLIGHTS: Creighton claimed the match with a 25-12 win.
- Creighton started the set with a 5-1 run. Providence then scored four of the next six points to bring them within two (7-5)
- The Bluejays went on a 10-0 run to maintain control of the set as they expanded their lead to 12 (17-5).
- Nelson, Rhoden and Mullally each recorded two kills.

Mackenzie Taylor (Holbrook, N.Y.) collected a team-best six digs.
- Ruggles put up five assists and the only service ace of the set.
MATCH NOTES:
- The Friars had 25 kills on 99 attacks.
- Eight of the nine athletes who played had at least one dig.
- Lykins and Taylor paced the Friars defensively with 21 total digs. Lykins collected 11 while Taylor had 10.
