Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track Set To Compete At The John Thomas Terrier Classic

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College men's and women's indoor track teams will travel to Boston, Mass. this Friday, Jan. 28 and Sunday, Jan. 30 for The John Thomas Terrier Classic. The two-day event will be held at Boston University. There will be no parents or spectators permitted at the venue.

Headlining the Friar women will be Shannon Flockhart (Longstanton, England), Halle Atkinson (Franklin, Mass.) and Alex O'Neill (Ennis, Ireland). This past weekend at the URI Coaches Tribute, all three finished first in their respective events. Flockhart finished first in the 1000-meter run (2:49.2) while Atkinson placed first in the 800-meter run (2:18.0). O'Neill placed first in the 500-meter in a time of 1:15.3, placing her third all-time in program history at Providence College.
For the men, Liam Back (New Plymouth, New Zealand), Pat Thygesen (Brisbane, Australia), Josh Lewin (West Chester, Pa.), Ryan Gallagher (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.), and Ryan Jendzejec (Chappaqua, N.Y.) will all be racing for the Friars. Back, Thygesen and Lewin all tabbed first place finishes at the URI Coaches Tribute in the 1000-meters (2:28.4), the mile (4:14.3), and the 500-meters (1:06.7), respectively. In the 4000 Medley Relay, a team of Thygesen, Lewin, Jendzejec and Gallagher placed first with a 10:22.09 finish.
