Barber And Nelson Named To BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- Providence College senior setter Allison Barber (Woodbury, Minn.) and sophomore outside hitter Emma Nelson (West Chester, Pa.) were named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for volleyball, as announced by the league on Tuesday, March 16.

Barber helped the Friars to a 2-0 conference weekend over the University of Connecticut as she averaged 0.50 blocks, 0.75 kills and 3.25 digs per set. Barber had 45 assists, three services aces, three kills and four block assists and 16 digs in a 3-1 win vs. UConn on Friday. In Saturday's sweep over UConn, Barber had 39 assists, ten digs and three kills on .111 hitting. This is the fourth BIG EAST award for the senior, and her second consecutive week being named to the Weekly Honor Roll.

Nelson averaged 3.25 kills, 0.25 digs, 0.25 blocks while hitting .226 as Providence went 2-0 vs. University of Connecticut this weekend in the Friar's second conference series. Nelson had 14 kills and hit .357 in a 3-1 victory on Friday against the Huskies. On Saturday, Nelson had 12 kills, two digs and two block assists.
