PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Tewaaraton Foundation has announced the 2021 Tewaaraton Award watch list today. The watch list was revealed on Thursday, March 11 and includes the top players across all three divisions of NCAA lacrosse. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the award.
Providence College senior goaltender
Toby Burgdorf (Westfield, N.J.) was named to the watch list. The Tewaaraton Award, established in 2001, is given annually to the most outstanding American college lacrosse player. The selection committees are made up of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by The Tewaaraton Foundation.
Burgdorf, who entered the 2021 campaign as a USILA Preseason All-American Honorable Mention and Inside Lacrosse Preseason All-American Honorable Mention, has recorded a 2-3 mark in goal for the Friars through the first half of the season. In 271 minutes of action, he holds a 13.27 goals against average, 43 saves and a .417 save percentage.
Burgdorf is the second Providence College lacrosse player to be named to the Tewaaraton Watch list. Former All-American
Tate Boyce '19 was featured on the Watch List twice during his career as a Friar goaltender.
