Women’s Indoor Track Opens Season At Rhode Island

This tri-meet consists of Providence, Rhode Island and New Hampshire.
PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College women's indoor track team will travel to Kingston, R.I. on Thursday, February 11 for their first meet of the season. The URI Tri-Meet will take place in the Mackal Field House and consist of Providence, Rhode Island and New Hampshire.
Leading the charge for the Friars will be two-time All-American and 2020 USTFCCCA Northeast Region Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year Abbey Wheeler (Elmira, N.Y.). The graduate student will run the mile, where her personal best is 4:46.96, set at the Ocean State Invitational on Apr. 12, 2019. In the 3,000-meters, Maria Coffin (Annapolis, Md.), Lilly Tuck (Sunderland, Canada) and Laura Mooney (Cappincur, Ireland) pace the Friars. Coffin looks to build off a personal best of 9:27.80, set at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational last season on Feb. 15. Tuck returns to Providence for her sophomore season, looking to build off an impressive freshman season and 3,000-meter time of 9:29.84. Tuck ran her personal best at the IC4A/ECAC Indoor Track and Field Championships on Mar. 6. Mooney will race in her first meet for the Friars on her career. Mooney holds personal bests of 16:46 in the 5,000-meter and 34:41 in the 10,000-meter. Sophomore Alex O'Neill (Ennis, Ireland) toes the line in the 1,000-meter, with a personal best time of 2:50.13, set at the Boston University Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener on Dec. 7, 2019.
