Toby Burgdorf Named BIG EAST Defensive Player Of The Week

Fellow Friar John Hoffman was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
NEW YORK, N.Y.- Providence College men's lacrosse player Toby Burgdorf (Westfield, N.J.) was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week and John Hoffman (Smithtown, N.Y.) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Tuesday, Feb. 16 after their performances in the season opener against Bryant on Saturday, Feb. 13. The Friars fell to the Bulldogs, 9-8.
Burgdorf had a strong performance in the defeat against Bryant. The senior saved 12 shots and held a .571 save percentage.
Hoffman tallied two goals, one assist and three points against Bryant. The sophomore attack also picked up two groundballs and caused one turnover.
Up next, Providence opens up BIG EAST play on the road versus St. John's on Saturday, Feb. 20. The game is set for 1:00 p.m. in Queens, N.Y.
