New York, N.Y.- Providence College women's soccer player
Emma Bodmer (Monroe Township, N.J.) was named the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week on Monday, Feb. 15. Additionally,
Amber Birchwell (Mastic, N.Y.),
Christina Rodgers (Scotch Plains, N.J.) and
Meg Hughes (Rochester, Mass.) were named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. Providence opened up its season with a 2-0 victory over Rhode Island on Sunday, Feb. 14.
Bodmer, the freshman goalkeeper, registered three saves in her collegiate debut, resulting in her first career shut-out against Rhode Island.
Birchwell scored the first Friar goal of the season in the 63
rd minute against Rhode Island off of a blocked shot. This marked the tenth goal in her career for the senior forward.
Rodgers led the back line for the Friars that only allowed four total shots in Sunday's victory.
Hughes gave the Friars an insurance goal in the 90th minute. Her left foot goal from 20-feet out was the first of her collegiate career.
