Hannah McNulty Named To Preseason All-BIG EAST Team

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Providence College women's soccer player Hannah McNulty (Warwick, R.I.) was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team, in an announcement by the league on Feb. 1. Additionally, the Friars were picked to finish third in the East Division of the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll, with 18 points and one first-place vote.

McNulty, one of three unanimous selections on the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team, started all 20 games for the Friars last season. She led the team in points (18) and goals (nine), including four game-winners. McNulty went on to earn All-BIG EAST First-Team honors at the conclusion of the season.

The Friars are looking to earn their seventh-consecutive berth to the BIG EAST Tournament under the direction of seventh-year Head Coach Sam Lopes. In 2019, Providence finished with an 8-9-3 overall record, including a 3-5-1 mark in conference play. Providence advanced to the BIG EAST Tournament semifinal after defeating Butler in penalty kicks, 1-1 (5-4), in the first round.

Georgetown topped the BIG EAST East Division with 25 points and five first-place votes. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the BIG EAST has split into two divisions for the upcoming season. The East Division is comprised of: Georgetown, Villanova, Providence, UConn, St. John's and Seton Hall. The MidWest Division is: Xavier, DePaul, Butler, Marquette and Creighton. Senior forward Hannah McNulty (Warwick, R.I.) was a unanimous selection on the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. The BIG EAST released its 2020 Preseason Coaches' Poll and preseason honors on Feb. 1.

Providence College will open the season with three home games against Rhode Island (Feb. 14), Bryant (Feb. 21) and BIG EAST foe UConn (Mar. 4) on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium.
