Leaman, Feaster, Berard and Moynihan Strike Gold As U.S. National Junior Team Defeats Canada, 2-0

EDMONTON, Alta. – Providence College Head Coach Nate Leaman, Director of Hockey Operations Theresa Feaster, student-athletes Brett Berard and Patrick Moynihan became World Junior Championship gold medalists after the United States defeated Canada, 2-0, on Tuesday night (Jan. 5) at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alta.
Leaman, the head coach for the U.S. National Junior Team, becomes the third coach all-time to win NCAA and World Junior titles (Mike Eaves, Dean Blais). The win marks the second time Leaman has earned a medal at the World Junior Championship, previously earning a bronze medal for the U.S. as an assistant coach in 2007. Feaster served as video coach on the U.S. National Junior Team staff, becoming the first-ever female member of a World Junior Championship coaching staff.
Berard finished the tournament with a goal, four assists and a +8 rating as key cog on the Team USA's third line. Moynihan appeared in four games, tallying two assists and a +1 rating over that span. They become the fourth and fifth Friars to win gold at the World Junior Championships – Jon Gillies (U.S., 2013), Kasper Bjorkqvist (Finland, 2016) and Erik Foley (U.S., 2017).
