The Friars clinched a share of the Hockey East Regular Season Championship after the results from around the league on Friday.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. –The No. 6 Providence College men's ice hockey team fell to the University of New Hampshire, 1-0 Friday night (Feb. 27) in Hockey East action at Schneider Arena. Despite the loss, the Friars clinched a share of the Hockey East Regular Season Championship by virtue of losses by both Boston College and Connecticut.

NOTES
- The Friars outshot the Wildcats 6-4 in the first and also killed off two UNH power plays in the opening 20.
- Brendan Fitzgerald scored what proved to be the only goal of the game at 10:11 of the second when his wrister from the left circle found its way through a maze of bodies and past Parsons. Ryan MacPherson and Marty Lavins were credited with assist on Fitzgerald's second goal of the season.
- Providence held the Wildcats without a shot in the third while firing off seven of its own.
- UNH killed off a Providence power play early in the third and finished the contest 2-for-2 on the PK.
- Providence clinched its second share of the Hockey East Regular Season crown (2016) and secured its first-ever No. 1 seed in the Hockey East Tournament
