PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College women's volleyball team was one of 1,313 programs to earn the 2020 AVCA Team Academic Award. The organization's 1,313 winners surpassed the previous year's record of 1,130 by nearly 200 teams. The Friars have earned the award in 10 of the last 15 years, five consecutive seasons since 2016.
The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale or 4.10 on a 5.0 scale.
Providence College is among 227 NCAA Division I women's volleyball programs to receive recognition in 2020. Over 2,000 different schools have earned the award spanning all levels of the sport.
